Japanese-Style Meatloaf with Hijiki
Ingredients

  • 10 1/2 ounces ground meat
  • 1/7 ounce dried hijiki
  • 1/2 onion
  • 1/2 carrot
  • 1/2 cup water for soaking hijiki
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2/3 ounces bread crumbs
Step 1

Soak the dried hijiki in the water in a bowl for 30 minutes. Remove and drain. Squeeze out any excess water with your hands.

Chop the onion and carrot. Preheat the oven to 390 °F.

Mix the ground meat, hijiki, onion, carrot, egg, bread crumbs and soy sauce in a big bowl.

Put the mixture into a rectangular cake pan. Bake in the oven at 390 °F for 20 minutes. Remove the meat from the pan and slice.
