Ingredients

  • 4 slices ham
  • (preferably thicker than 1/4 in.)
  • suitable amount Worcestershire sauce
  • salad oil for deep frying

batter:

  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1 egg
  • 1 ounces bread crumbs
Step 1

Lightly coat the ham slices with the flour in a pan.

Beat the egg in a bowl and coat the ham slices with the egg.

Then coat well with the bread crumbs in a separate pan.

Heat the oil to 340 °F and deep-fry the ham slices on each side a couple of minutes until golden brown.

Pour Worcestershire sauce over the ham cutlets.

This deep-fried dish is famous in Japan. It is more often bought at grocery store deli sections than cooked at home. The combination of ham and bread crumbs has a unique crispy texture, which the Worcestershire sauce suits well.
