Vinegared Wakame & Cucumbers


Step 1

Pour 500 ml water into a bowl and soak the wakame for 5 to 20 minutes until desired softness. Drain. If using whole type wakame, cut into 1/4 in. pieces.

Squeeze the water from the wakame with your hands.

Thinly slice the cucumbers. Dust the cucumbers with salt. Let them set for about 15 minutes until they become soft.

Squeeze the water from the cucumbers with your hands.

Mix the vinegar, sugar and soy sauce in a bowl.

Add the wakame and cucumbers. Mix.

This vinegared dish is very popular in Japan. It suits rich tasting main dishes because it has a light refreshing flavor.
