ingredients:
- 2 square mochi rice cakes
- 100 g ground pork or chicken
- 1 teaspoon grated ginger
- 1 1/2 teaspoons soy sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- 120 ml water
- 1/2 tablespoon potato starch (katakuriko)
- 1/2 tablespoon water (for dissolving potato starch)
- 1 teaspoon water (for pouring over rice cakes)

step 1:
Place the water in a pot. Add the ground meat, grated ginger, sugar and soy sauce. Simmer for about 3 minutes on medium-low heat.

step 2:
Place the rice cakes on a plate. Pour the 1 teaspoon of water over them. Warm them in the microwave at 600 W for 1 minute 30 seconds.

step 3:
Cut each rice cake into bite-size pieces.

step 4:
Add the mochi to Step 1. Mix a couple of times and bring to a boil.

step 5:
Dissolve the potato starch in the 1/2 tablespoon of water. Add the dissolved potato starch to the pot. Stir a few times until it becomes creamy.

comment:
Warm rice cakes are good for the stomach or when you have a cold. Ground meat suits them very well, and this dish is easy to eat because it isn't heavy.
