Cut the tuna into bite-size pieces. Cut the avocado in half lengthwise, then peel. Cut each half into 1 cm. wide slices.

Dust the avocado slices lightly with a little potato starch (katakuriko).

Step 3

Slice the garlic. Heat the olive oil in a frying pan over a low flame and sear the sliced garlic.

After the sliced garlic changes color, sear the tuna for a couple of minutes.

Add the avocado and sear on both sides for a total of a minute.

Add the sugar and soy sauce and sear one more minute.

It is said in Japan that avocado resembles the taste of raw tuna, and there is a popular raw tuna and avocado dish in Japan. However, this is a unique dish because both the tuna and avocado are seared so people who do not like raw tuna can eat this delicious dish.
