ingredients:
- 2 ounces lettuce
- 3 1/2 ounces Japanese-style char siu or ham
- 2 eggs
- 4 in. or 2/3 ounce leek or green onion
- 2 servings cold steamed rice
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 teaspoons soup stock powder (chicken, Chinese or bonito) (optional)
- 2 tablespoons salad oil
- a little salt
- a little pepper
step 1:
Chop the char siu (or ham) and leek (or green onion). Cut the lettuce into bite-size pieces.
step 2:
Beat the eggs in a bowl.
step 3:
In order to prevent the rice from becoming sticky, preheat a frying pan (or wok) without oil for 1 minute on high heat. Then, add the oil, eggs and cold rice and saute while stiring for 1 minute on high heat.
step 4:
Add the char siu (or ham), leek (or green onion) and lettuce, and mix while cooking for another minute.
step 5:
Add the soup stock powder (optional), salt, pepper and soy sauce, and stir on high heat for another minute.
Serve in a dish.
comment:
Using sauted lettuce makes this a very unique dish. The combination of crisp lettuce and fried rice is unusual but you will come to love it.
