Retort pouch hambagu

There is a very popular national Japanese dish called hambagu (Japanese hamburger steak) which is a hamburger patty served without a bun. It is served in restaurants and also sold in retort pouches or as a frozen food at supermarkets and convenience stores. We think that Westerners also eat it because they like hamburgers. Most Japanese do not know that this dish does not exist abroad. A mixture of ground beef and pork is more common than 100 % ground beef, which is so expensive. Demi-glace sauce is usually used in restaurants but ketchup or Worcestershire sauce is more popular at home. Low-calorie Japanese style teriyaki sauce or ground radish with soy sauce are also popular. We usually eat hamburger steak with steamed rice. If you come to Japan, please try hambagu.
