Miru-kurepu is a cake consisting of a crepe and a layer of whipped cream or custard cream. Depending on the product, fruits and other ingredients are placed in between the layers, and the cross section of the crepe is beautiful when cut. Although the name comes from the French word mille (thousand) crepes, it was actually invented by a certain Tokyo cafe around 1978. Nowadays, the cake has spread all over Japan. Mille crepe cake actually consists of about 10 to 20 crepes. It is sometimes served as a whole cake, but is usually sold cut into pieces. The layers of crepes give it a unique and delicious texture that is different from other cakes. Mille crepe cakes can be found in cake stores, cafes, convenience stores, and even supermarkets.
