Daifuku fruit is Japanese sweets previously introduced with "Daifuku Mochi Varieties". Daifuku fruit is daifuku mochi with fruit inside, specifically fruit wrapped in red bean paste (anko) or white bean paste (shiro-anko) and then wrapped in gyuuhi, a softer and sweeter version of mochi (rice cake). Daifuku fruit originated in the 1980s when ichigo daifuku (daifuku with strawberry) were sold. It was revolutionary at the time to add slightly sour strawberries to the traditional sweet daifuku. Nowadays, daifuku fruit is not only made from strawberries, but also grapes, kiwis, citrus fruits, Japanese chestnuts and other fruits. Daifuku fruit not only tastes good, but also looks beautiful in cross section when cut.
