ingredients:
- 150 g glutinous rice
- or regular rice
- 20 g soybean flour (kinako)
- 15 g sugar
- 160 ml water (if using glutinous rice) or 200 ml (if using regular rice)
step 1:
Wash the rice. Drain the water and leave the rice in the colander 1 hour to completely remove all the water. Add the 160 ml or 200 ml water to the rice cooker pot. Switch on the rice cooker.
step 2:
After it's cooked, put the hot steamed rice into a large bowl. Mash it until it reaches a coarse texture.
step 3:
Form into 8 barrel-shaped patties.
step 4:
Place the soybean flour and sugar on a plate. Mix them. Place a pattie on the plate. Coat well. Do the same for the remaining three.
comment:
Ohagi is a typical Japanese sweet that has rice wrapped in anko (sweetened red bean paste). Kinako-ohagi generally has anko inside, but this recipe does not have anko and is characterized by a light sweetness that is not too strong.
