Frozen type omurice
Omurice is cooked by frying beaten eggs in a frying pan, then adding fried rice and wrapping it like an omelet. The fried rice used is usually chicken rice, made by frying bite-sized chicken pieces and chopped onions with rice, and seasoning it with ketchup. Sometimes fried rice with butter is also used. When omurice is served, tomato ketchup or demi-glace sauce is poured on top of it. Omurice is a combination of “omelet” and “rice,” and is a Western-style Japanese food. The original omurice was first served at a restaurant in the early 20th century. Omurice is a home dish, but it is also found on the menus of many Western-style restaurants, and there are even speciality omurice restaurants. The chefs at those restaurants are highly skilled, so the omurice is extremely delicious with fluffy eggs and tender insides. Omurice is also sold in supermarkets or as frozen foods. It is rather popular among women and children in Japan. If you are interested in omurice, we have several recipes for you to try.
