simmered hijiki

ingredients:

  • 30 g dried hijiki
  • 120 g carrot
  • 4 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons sugar
  • 360 ml water
  • 1 liter water for soaking

step 1:

Soak the dried hijiki in the 1 liter of water in a bowl for 30 minutes and drain.

step 2:

Cut the carrot into julienne slices.

step 3:

Cut the abura-age (optional) in half lengthwise. Stack them and cut into 4 equal strips.

step 4:

Slice the chikuwa (optional).

step 5:

Pour the 360 ml of water into a pan. Add the hijiki, carrots, chikuwa, abura-age, boiled green peas (optional), sugar and soy sauce. Cover and boil on a medium flame for about 20 minutes.
