simmered tofu & spinach

ingredients:

step 1:

Cut the tofu block in half lengthwise. Place knife halfway down the side of the block and slice across. Then cut across into thirds to make 12 bite-size pieces.

step 2:

Cut off the stems of the spinach and wash. Cut the spinach into 5 cm. long pieces.

step 3:

Pour the bonito soup stock into a pan. Add the sugar and the soy sauce. Bring to a boil.

step 4:

Add the tofu and spinach. Cover and simmer for 10 minutes.

The combination of spinach and tofu, which is low–calorie and includes protein, makes this a healthy dish. The sweetened soy sauce the suits the plain taste of tofu and spinach very well.
