Namagashi for winter season

Tsubaki

Shiba no yuki

Namagashi (fresh sweets) are representive sweets of Japan. They are often served with matcha in the tea ceremony. Namagashi can be purchased at sweets shops throughout Japan. However, the highest quality namagashi can be found in many traditional shops in Kyoto where skilled craftsman work. We can enjoy namagashi year round because luxury shops sell different namagashi in each season. The namagashi pictured here are those for winter. Included are tsubaki (winter camellia in bloom) and shiba no yuki (brushwood with snow on top). If you come to Japan, please try namagashi.
