Dumplings are a very famous Chinese dish. It is common in China to eat them boiled or steamed. Dumplings have spread throughout Japan, where fried dumplings are more popular. These have a wrapper made of wheat flour and an inside mixture of minced pork and chopped vegetables - usually any combination of cabbage, napa cabbage (Chinese cabbage), garlic and garlic chives. Chinese wrappers are thick whereas Japanese wrappers are thin. Japanese dumplings are often eaten with rice or as a snack with beer. Ready-to-eat fried dumplings and frozen dumplings which can be fried at home are sold in Japanese supermarkets and convenience stores. Many frozen food companies make them.
