Shirataki is made from konjac potatoes using almost the same process and ingredients as the konjac/konnyaku explanation found on our website. Shirataki has the same light taste as konjac. Shirataki is 90% water, low in calories, and a popular healthy food for dieters. The remaining 10% contains dietary fiber, calcium, iron, copper, phosphorus, magnesium, and vitamin B6. The difference between shirataki and konjac is whether or not seaweed powder is mixed in. Shirataki is white, while konjac is blackish in color. Also, shirataki is mostly thread-like, and some are tied into threads. Konjac is available in thread and block types. Shirataki is often used in sukiyaki, one-pot dishes, and simmered dishes.
