Many Japanese eat bread every day and Japanese bread called shyokupan is the most popular at home in Japan. It is almost always white. A loaf of shyokupan can be anywhere from 4 to 10 pieces. One piece is about 11 cm. × 11 to 14 cm. A shyokupan loaf with 4 to 6 slices is usually used for toast and a loaf with 8 to 10 slices is usually used for sandwiches. Shyokupan is very soft and fluffy, and when pressed with one finger, it is dented.
