Buche de noel

Last year, I introduced the topic of Japanese Christmas Cuisine and mentioned that the habit of eating Christmas cake has become a custom, due mainly to the influence of one famous Japanese cake shop. No doubt, many Japanese must feel that eating Christmas cake is one of the pleasures of Christmas parties. Christmas cakes are sold at various shops and stores including cake shops at Christmas time. Some families also bake and decorate them with their own designs. There are not many religious implications for Christmas in Japan, so there is no specific kind of Christmas cake. Although there are many varieties, most Christmas cakes are based on sponge cake. The most popular type is a circular sponge cake decorated with whipped cream and strawberries. Buche de Noel (Yule logs) are also popular. This cake, transmitted from France, is a rolled sponge cake covered with chocolate cream, and decorated like a log. Both of these cakes are soft because sponge cake is used. We have posted decorated cake recipes on our website. Please check out them out if you are interested.
