In summer, seedless grapes can be seen at many grocery stores in Japan. A vinifera grape called Delaware is very famous. Just out of curiosity, why is the grape called Delaware? I searched and I found that it was named after Delaware City in Ohio in the middle of the 1800s where they were first grown, and that it was first introduced into Japan at the end of the 1800s. I think that many Japanese probably do not know this fact. The Delaware grapes are easy to eat because they are small-sized and are seedless, and the taste is very juicy and sweet. The peel should be removed. You should try them if you are ever in Japan in the summer or early autumn.
