Eggs

Japanese people have the habit of eating raw egg. It is said that the habit is only Japanese. That fact was a surprise to me. Actually, in Japanese grocery stores, only eggs for eating raw are sold. Japanese usually eat sukiyaki with a dipping sauce which contains only beaten raw egg. Seared beef and vegetables with sweetened soy sauce flavor and beaten raw egg is a very good combination. It is not uncommon that we pour beaten raw egg over gyudon (beef bowl). The most popular use of beaten raw egg is tamago-kake-gohan, in which a mixture of beaten raw egg and a little soy sauce is poured over hot steamed rice. If you are interested in eating raw egg in Japan, then please visit sukiyaki restaurants or beef bowl shops.
